Community Involvement
Every year the Brazos County Youth Livestock Show invites the community to come experience a wonderful learning opportunity and the hard work youth exhibitors have accomplished. Held at the Brazos County Expo, Brazos County youth will be showcasing their hard work with a multitude of animal, ag mechanics, and Family and Consumer Science (FCS) projects. Come and see what it’s all about!
How Can You Get Involved?
BCYLS Kickoff Dance
Each year, The Brazos County Youth Livestock Show kicks-off with a dance and scholarship fundraiser. The BCYLS Jr. Board is introduced, and scholarship recipients are announced. The Brazos County Youth Livestock Queens Court is presented, and the Queen is crowned during this event. Learn more about the 2024 BCYLS Kickoff Dance.
AG-YOU-cate at BCYLS
Led by Brazos County 4-H, FFA, Ag-YOU-Cate provides hands on workshops focused on agricultural education. Previous workshops have included arts and crafts, egg to chick, food & nutrition demos, healthy living activities, horticulture planting projects, and an interactive milking station. Ag-YOU-Cate’s purpose is to introduce agriculture through interactive workshops in an effort to educate future generations about the agricultural roots of consumer products. In addition to the knowledge gained, students take home projects created during the event!
Ag-YOU-Cate is a free learning excursion sponsored by the Brazos County Youth Livestock Show for second graders in Brazos County. Teachers must register their classes to attend the event and schools are responsible for reserving their transportation and any applicable costs. Registration is on a first come, first served basis.
